Generic brands are medicines that have the same active ingredient as the trade names (which are the brands that have come up with that medicines first). These are not as well advertised or might have a slightly different formulation from the trade names. At the end of the day all it comes down to are price and your preference

Why is Fish oil so popular
Answer
There is an ongoing stream of studies that support the importance of fish oil as an: -Anti inflammatory -Anti thrombotic - Reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease - Increases cognitive function - Reduces pain such joint pain particularly arthritis The list goes on. It is not the fish oil itself that has the benefits but the triglyceride content in it- EPA and DHA. It is recommended that you consume 1g of EPA and DHA everyday. Unfortunately most of us don't get enough fish oil from fish so fish oil supplementation is recommended.
